Jets' Brandon Marshall: Houston Texans' J.J. Watt 'the best defensive player ever'

Better than Lawrence Taylor, Reggie White, or Joe Greene? A little more than a week ago, Brandon Marshall  and theJets  got a first-hand look at the otherworldly ability ofdefensive end J.J. Watt . Watt and the Texans are on an absolute tear of late--just two touchdowns allowed in their last 18 quarters--with Watt serving as a one-man wrecking crew. Watt has been so dominant, so utterly unstoppable, that Marshall is even willing to crown him the best--of all time. "I'm going to go on a limb also on this show and say he is the best defensive player to ever play in the game," Marshall said Tuesday night during his weekly appearance on Showtime's "Inside the NFL. The best defensive player to ever play the game? Better than Giants  edge rusher Lawrence Taylor? Better than Eagles  and Packers defensive end Reggie White? Or Steelers defensive tackle Joe Greene? Or Bears inside linebacker Dick Butkus? ALSO: Marshall on Jets: 'I think we are a playoff team' Watt is in his fifth season, and he's disruptive in every which way . The Jets got a too-close-for-comfort view of that in their24-17 loss  in Week 11, when Watt recorded eight tackles, including five for a loss, six quarterback hits, and two sacks. One got the sense all five of the Jets' offensive linemen couldn't contain him. The Texans have won four in a row after a 2-5 start to leapfrog the Jets in the wild-card race.
