Price gets seven-year, $219-million contract The Yankees watched their division rivals get a huge boost Tuesday when theBoston Red Sox signed left-hander David Price. Price, a 30-year-old ace, will lead Boston's rotation after getting a few bucks -- actually, $217 million, and spread over the next seven seasons. So, what did the Yankees think about it? What will the Yankees do now that their biggest foe has added not just the American League Cy Young runner up, not just the best free agent that was available not market, but a guy who's also said he revels in beating the Yankees? BY THE NUMBERS: Price vs. the Yankees "No reaction," Cashman said, according to a report from the New York Post's George King. The Yankees also watched the Red Sox acquire top-notch closer Craig Kimbrel from the San Diego Padres  earlier in the offseason New York hasn't exactly been dormant since getting bounced from the AL Wild Card game. It added outfielderAaron Hicks in exchange for backup catcher John Ryan Murphy . Hicks, Cashman has said, has the ability to be an everyday player, but it remains to be seen whether he'll get the chance with the Yankees' packed outfield. PRICE TO RED SOX: What it means for the Yankees But the Yankees haven't -- and likely won't -- make the kind of splashes the Red Sox have made the last two seasons. Last offseason, Boston spent megabucks to land Hanley Ramirez, whom they're reportedly trying to trade, and third baseman Pablo Sandoval.
